Sentence imposed for truck theft, meth

A Minot man was sentenced to serve a concurrent sentence of five years and 18 months in prison after entering a change of plea to guilty to stealing a truck and felony drug possession.

Tony Maurice Boose, 36, Minot, entered his change of plea in North Central District Court in Minot on Friday to a count of Class B felony theft-possession-$10,000-$50,000, and a count of Class C felony possession of a controlled substance.

According to court documents, Boose was arrested for stealing and crashing a black Toyota Tundra registered to a Minot business that was reported stolen in June 2023. Boose was later captured on surveillance video driving the stolen vehicle, which was valued at $12,927. The drug charge came after his probation was revoked for violating conditions of drug court, and the controlled substance was found on his person while being processed at the Ward County Jail.

District Court Judge Richard Hagar sentenced Boose to serve five years of a 10-year sentence with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the vehicle theft and 18 months for the possession charge, with credit for 106 days already served. Boose was ordered to complete three years of supervised probation after he is released, along with a chemical dependency evaluation, and to pay $921.86 in restitution. Boose was assessed $1,875 in court fines and fees.
