Minot State University will host the fifth annual Northern Plains Philosophy Conference, scheduled for Saturday, April 13, in Hartnett Hall.

The Northern Plains Philosophy Conference will have presentations throughout the day, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including talks by philosophy students and faculty members from Minot State, the University of North Dakota, the University of Mary and North Dakota State University.

The conference is free to attend and open to the public.

“I’m excited to host this long-standing regional philosophy conference at MSU for the first time,” said Raman Sachdev, Minot State assistant professor of philosophy. “The conference will provide an outlet for students from multiple North Dakota institutions, including MSU, to showcase their research and learn from seasoned philosophy professors. I believe that the conference presentations will shed light on the relevance of philosophy for our university community, and I look forward to organizing more educational talks at MSU in the future.”

Presentation topics include machine suffering, the ethics of the use of slurs in the classroom and the relation between empathy and non-violence.
