Minot Fire Department seeks Heroes nominees

The Minot Fire Department is seeking nominees for the Helmets for Heroes program, which seeks to recognize children as everyday heroes in the community.

Helmets for Heroes is an initiative for the Minot Fire Department to support children through difficult times to show them they are not alone in their hardships. Children who are selected for the program will be given a decommissioned fire helmet.

“Everyday heroes make the world a better place,” Chief Kelli Kronschnabel said. “Minot is full of these everyday heroes, and we thought this would be a great way to recognize them.”

The program will officially launch on Sunday, which is National Superhero Day.

Nominations will be accepted year-round, with recipient recognition ceremonies held during city council meetings on or near National Superhero Day and National Hero Day, which takes place Oct. 8.

Those seeking to nominate a child are asked to fill out a nomination and media release form and mail or drop it off at Fire Station 1. Forms are available from the fire department.
