Stanely -- A Parshall man has been sentenced to serve a year and a half with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation after entering guilty pleas in two separate cases.
Brandon Alan Twogood, 33, Parshall, entered his change of pleas in North Central District Court in Stanley on March 14 before Judge Todd Cresap, pleading guilty in the first case to a charge of burglary, a Class C felony, and to Class C felony counts of possession of methamphetamine-second offense and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia use SI, SII, SIII-second offense in the second case. A Class B misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-marijuana-third or subsequent offense, and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, an infraction, were dismissed in accordance with the plea agreement with Mountrail County prosecutors.
Twogood was charged in the burglary case on Jan. 20 after Mountrail County Dispatch received a report in the early morning regarding an active burglary in Parshall. According to court documents, a Mountrail County Sheriff's deputy and Three Affiliated Tribes Police officers arrived on the scene to secure the scene and sighted the suspect fleeing on foot.
The residence was unoccupied at the time of the burglary, which was captured on home's security video showing a man breaking the window and climbing into the residence. Investigators identified Twogood in the video and later were told by a witness that Twogood had recently broken into homes in Parshall.
The meth case stemmed from his arrest on the warrants from the burglary case, when law enforcement attempted to execute them on Feb. 11. According to court documents, law enforcement located Twogood hiding behind a couch in the living room. After being placed under arrest, law enforcement located marijuana paraphernalia, a bag of methamphetamine and assorted meth paraphernalia in Twogood's possession.
Cresap sentenced Twogood to serve 18 months with the DCR for the count of burglary, with credit for 32 days already served. Twogood is required to complete three years of supervised probation and pay $125 in court fines and fees. Twogood received a concurrent sentence for the meth and paraphernalia possession charges of 18 months and one year and one day respectively, with credit for 32 days already served. Twogood was assessed an additional $125 in court fines and fees.
