A Minot woman has been sentenced to serve 57 days with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation after changing her plea to guilty on a Class C felony charge of accomplice to burglary.
Tyra Harris, 26, Minot, appeared before North Central District Judge Stacy Louser in Minot on March 27 to the charge, which stemmed from an incident on Sept. 24, 2022. According to court documents, Minot Police investigated a reported burglary in which Harris and her co-defendant Zacharian Wiler, 19, Minot, entered a residence in Minot in the early morning looking for a person who lived there. A friend of the resident was the only one in the apartment at the time and was threatened by Harris with a firearm before he fled the scene.
According to the affidavit, the victims later returned to the apartment to find several items estimated at a value of $956.56 were stolen.
Wiler said the pair went to the victim's residence but denied participating in the robbery, claiming that he left after Harris pointed the firearm at the friend of the resident.
Louser sentenced Harris to serve 180 days of a five-year sentence with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, along with two years of supervised probation. Harris was ordered to have no contact with both victims and to pay $993.98 in restitution.
Wiler previously pleaded guilty to the same charge in Aug. 2, 2023, when he was sentenced to serve two days of a 360-day sentence in the Ward County Jail. Wiler's charge will be deemed a misdemeanor pending the satisfaction of the terms of his supervised probation.
