The Wheelie is awarded to a North Dakota bookmobile in recognition of administrators and staff who provide exceptional service with the financial resources at their disposal. The honor is bestowed on those performing the best across a range of per-capita measures against a peer-group of bookmobiles. The metrics considered are total circulation per capita, number of bookmobile stops and mileage. Ward County has won the award six times. There are 11 bookmobiles in North Dakota and several libraries with smaller outreach vans.
