Area students earn gold at music festival

Area students were among 116 entrants who competed in the Nationally Federated Gold Cup Festival held April 20 at Minot State University.

Entrants who earned small gold cups worth 15 points for piano solos were: Tommy Pollard, Bottineau; Alivia Quam, Des Lacs; Adleigh Olson, Harvey; Laken Dobowey, Max; Gabe Scheresky, Max; Sydney Brown, Minot; Preston Cooper, Minot; Zeke Hoverson, Minot; Sam Lundgren, Minot; Selah Miller, Minot; Kael Muhle, Minot; Talmage Pehrson, Minot; Tristan Pehrson, Minot; Kiera Torgeson, Minot; Dylan Wanner, Minot; and Jason Winter, Minot.

Grant Geller, Minot, earned a small cup for his piano concerto, and Anne Fricke, Minot, earned a small cup for hymn playing.

Entrants who earned a medium cup worth 30 points or more were: Hatti Rau, Max; Ella Boyle-Clark, Minot; Grant Geller, Minot; McKenna Jensen, Minot; Clara Withers, Minot; and Ella Withers, Minot.

Zeke Hoverson, Minot, earned a medium cup for hymn playing.

Entrants who earned a large cup worth 45 or more points for piano solos were Madison and McKenna Solberg, both of Minot.
