A Minot man has been sentenced to serve five additional days in jail after entering guilty pleas to five drug-related felonies.
Jayden Lee Morsette, 21, Minot, entered his change of plea to guilty in two separate cases in North Central District Court on March 8. Morsette pleaded guilty in the first case dated Sept. 9, 2023, to possession of methamphetamine-second offense and unlawful possession of paraphernalia-second offense, both Class C felonies, and an infraction for unlawful possession of marijuana paraphernalia. The second batch of guilty pleas entered by Morsette were associated with a Feb. 16 case involving possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of paraphernalia, possession fentanyl-second offense, all Class C felonies, and driving under suspension, a Class B misdemeanor.
District Judge Todd Cresap sentenced Morsette to serve 25 days of 360 days in the Ward County Jail for the 2023 charges, with credit for 25 days already served. Morsette was sentenced to serve 30 days of a five-year sentence through the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the February charges, with credit for 25 days already served. Cresap ordered Morsette to complete two years of supervised probation in the first case and three years in the other, along with requirements to complete a chemical dependency evaluation. The felonies from the 2023 case will be deemed misdemeanors pending the completion of his probation.
Morsette was assessed $1,050 in court fines and fees between both cases.
