Guilty plea entered in July shooting

A Bismarck woman was sentenced in February after entering a change of plea to guilty for her role as an accomplice in a July 2023 shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

Sydney Renee Roller, 21, Bismarck, entered her change of plea to guilty for one count of accomplice to aggravated assault involving a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony, in an agreement with Ward County prosecutors that also dismissed nine identical counts of the same.

Roller was arrested in September after an investigation by Minot Police determined she had lured the victim out of residence so Jordan Bailey, 26, Minot, could shoot him. The victim was transported to Trinity Hospital to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds. Court documents indicated bullets fired during the incident were recovered in the victim’s residence and in two additional apartments where residents were sleeping, including one that had five children sleeping inside.

Roller appeared in North Central District Court on Feb. 21 for her sentencing before Judge Gary Lee. Lee sentenced Roller to 360 days in the Ward County Jail, to first serve 158 days with credit for 158 days already served. Roller was ordered to complete three years of supervised probation and pay $560 in court fines and fees.

Bailey is scheduled to appear for a change of plea hearing of his own before Lee on March 12. He is charged with nine counts of reckless endangerment-extreme indifference-dangerous weapon, and aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony.
