VFW awards scholarships
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 753 and Auxiliary in Minot recently held an awards dinner for their scholarship winners.
Post winners
– Piper Erickson, an 11th grader at Minot High School, received $500 for first place in the local Voice of Democracy. She also was awarded second place, receiving $300, in the District 3 Voice of Democracy.
– Mason Brown, second place, Voice of Democracy, $300, ninth grade MHS Central Campus.
– Faith Gravley, first place, Patriots Pen, $500, seventh grade, Our Redeemer’s Christian School. Gravley also was awarded third place, Patriots Pen, $200, for District 3.
– Carmella McWilliams, second place, Patriots Pen, $300, seventh grade, Erik Ramstad Middle School.
– Gryphen Leier-Wangler, third place, Patriots Pen, $200, eighth grade, Bishop Ryan Catholic School.
– Allison Torbit, Teacher of the Year K-5, Edison Elementary School, $500. Torbit was awarded first place, Teacher of the Year K-5, $500, for District 3 and first place, Teacher of the Year K-5, for the VFW Department of North Dakota. Her entry has been forwarded to the VFW National Headquarters for judging.
