Minot FFA Chapter throws pie social

The Minot FFA Chapter held a pie and ice cream social event Tuesday after school for the members’ appreciation of the community.

“It’s really just showing our support and thankfulness for the community,” said Makayla Kraft, Minot FFA vice president. “It’s a way of giving back to our community, as well.”

Minot FFA Pie Day was held in conjunction with National FFA Week from Feb. 17-24. The week is a celebration of agriculture education.

Several of the pies that were brought for the event held at the Minot High School Central Campus Ag Department were homemade and some were store-bought. The flavors ranged from chocolate to lemon to pumpkin to blueberry. Vanilla ice cream was also available for those with a cold sweet tooth.

The pie and ice cream social is an annual event, and this was the third year Kraft has been involved in FFA. She first signed up when she was a freshman, wanting to learn how to be a leader, make new friends and she has also gotten a lot more involved with public speaking.

“It’s a real great organization to be involved in if you want to grow as a person.”
