A Minot man has been sentenced to time served and probation after pleading guilty to Class C felony domestic violence on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
Josiah Robert Walls, 23, entered a guilty plea in North Central District Court for an offense from July 2022.
According to court documents, a male victim was visiting the residence of Wall's family member when Walls accused him of stealing his cell phone and struck him in the head with a bolt he was holding. The victim told investigators he was knocked unconscious and the bolt was about three inches long and an inch thick.
Walls appeared before Judge Todd Cresap to enter his change of plea, who sentenced him to five years in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Cresap ordered Walls first serve 11 days of the sentence, with credit for 11 days already served. Walls will be required to complete three years of supervised probation, and must complete a domestic violence evaluation along with an anger management program.
Cresap also ordered Walls to have no contact with the victim and maintain a 150-foot distance provision. Walls was assessed $525 in court fines and fees and restitution was reserved by the court for 60 days.
