A Minot man has been arrested and charged with criminal vehicular injury along with drug and paraphernalia possession after a head-on crash sent him and another person to the hospital Thursday.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 1996 Ford Explorer driven by James Feeley, 18, Minot, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 2 on the southeast side of Minot. The Ford Explorer struck an eastbound 2008 Toyota Yaris driven by Tyanna Weeks, 18, Minot, head on, resulting in major front end damage to both vehicles.
Feeley sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and Weeks sustained serious life threatening injuries. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to Trinity Hospital for treatment.
The Highway Patrol reports an on-scene investigation revealed Feeley was under the influence and in possession of narcotics, resulting in charges on three counts: criminal vehicular injury, a Class C felony, and possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, both Class A misdemeanors.
The crash is still under investigation.
