Candidate announces Minot school board

KayLee Bourquin

KayLee Bourquin has announced her candidacy for the Minot Public School board.

Bourquin graduated from Minot High School in 2011 and Minot State University in 2015 with a degree in criminal justice with minors in accounting and fraud examination. She has worked in the financial sector for the past 13 years.

“Throughout my schooling and career, I have always faced challenges head on. Right now our district is facing challenges that may not be easy to overcome but need the right people in place to help navigate through the issues at hand. My leadership abilities include effective communication, creative problem solving, listening, and identifying efficiencies,” she said.

Bourquin and her husband have two children, ages 5 and 2.

“I am a firm believer in being involved in the parts of your life that matter the most, and for me that is my children and their future education. While many of us lead busy lives with full-time work, full-time parenting, or a mixture of both, I’d like to be a role model to parents that being engaged in the activities of your children, no matter how big or small, can lead to positive impacts in the future,” she said.

Bourquin said she is thankful for the current leadership’s commitment and wants to continue to ensure the board is made up of various backgrounds and stages of life.
