Ward County team wins 4-H indoor archery match

The North Central Early-Bird Archery Match held in Maddock on Dec. 16 was the first 4-H indoor archery match of the 2023-2024 season. Seven archers from Ward County 4-H participated in the match.
Indoor archery matches are in groups based on age and bow type. The age range is Beginner (8 to 10 years old), Junior (11 to 13), and Senior (14 to 18). The Masters division is for those at least 14 years old and qualified for a national contest in their age and bow division. The bow divisions are Barebow and Freestyle. Barebow has no sights or releases on the bow, opposite a Freestyle bow containing either sight or a release.
Ward County 4-H participant results are as follows:
Senior Barebow division:
- Clara Potts, Minot, placed third with a score of 162.
Junior Freestyle division:
- Tyson Perdue, Minot, placed fourth with a score of 139.
- Breanna Mindt, Minot, placed sixth with a score of 124.
- Lillyanna Wright, Balfour, placed ninth with a score of 122.
- Grady Mostad, Minot, placed 10th with a score of 117.
- The team of Perdue, Mindt, Wright and Mostad won with a combined score of 385.
- Also representing Ward County was Owen April, Granville.
Junior Barebow division:
- Mindt placed sixth with a score of 197.
Beginner Freestyle division:
- Owen Peterson, Minot, placed second with a score of 135.
