The local Vietnam Veterans Committee is seeking Gold Star family members in Minot and the surrounding area.

According to the committee, which is comprised of members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion, it would like to invite the Gold Star family members to a Vietnam Veterans Celebration being planned to honor their loved ones. The event is open to all Vietnam veterans.

Gold Star families are those with an immediate family member who died as the result of active-duty military service.

Gold Star family members are asked to contact Loren Headrick at 721-7122 or Jim Davenport at 822-3242 on or before Feb. 1.

The celebration to honor Vietnam veterans has been scheduled for Friday, March 29, at the Minot Armed Forces Reserve Center. March 29 is national Vietnam Veterans Day.

The event will be held from 2-4 p.m. Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. There will be a program including a speaker. More details about the event will be announced later.
