The Minot Area Community Foundation’s Power of the Purse Giving Circle has launched a Bus Pass Challenge to help get bus passes into the hands of students who may be struggling to get to school.

Power of the Purse will match all donations up to $7,000 through Jan. 31.

The city bus is an option for most students traveling to school, but often families cannot afford a bus pass, according to MACF. The issue of not being able to easily get to and from school can impact grades but schools also have seen a high rate of anxiety among students.

A one-month city bus pass is $28. The goal is to provide Minot Public Schools with 500 one-month passes.
