4-H Air Rifle participants warm up with Southwest Match
Five Ward County 4-H members took part in the Southwest Shootout Air Rifle postal match.
The participants mailed their completed targets to the NDSU Extension Bowman County office, where their committee scored against others in various categories. All entries were turned in by Jan. 8.
Age groups create the division and consist of Beginner (ages eight to 10), Junior (11 to 13), and Senior (14 to 18). The contestants use Sporter air rifles, shooting .177-caliber pellets at a velocity of 600 fps or less. Targets are AR 5/10 International 10-meter air rifle targets. Beginners shoot from a sitting position off a bench rest. Juniors and seniors compete by shooting from three positions – standing, kneeling and prone.
Senior Sporter Three-Position Division
– 4th place, Olivia Jansen, Minot, with a score of 488.
– 5th place, Alyssa Korgel, Minot, 476.
– 6th place, Zachary Korgel, Minot, 432.
– 7th place, Landen Jansen, Minot, 419.
– The team of Landen Jansen, Olivia Jansen, Alyssa Korgel and Zachary Korgel placed second in the Senior division with 1,396 points.
Junior Sporter Three-Position Division
– 2nd place, Jase Schilla, Makoti, 378.
