The board of the recently shuttered Project BEE has announced their intentions to reopen the Winter Warming Center in the evening on New Year's Day on Monday.
INSPIRITUS Community Health Foundation President Shelly Weppler said the board has been lining up funding and staff to get the warming house up and running again.
Though the community was able to find temporary solutions shortly after Project BEE's closure on Dec. 20, the board has found funding through donations collected in the past six weeks for the Twice Blessed program. Weppler said additional funding included a $25,000 matching grant, a preexisting endowment of $14,000, and an additional "generous" donation from an unnamed individual. Weppler indicated the funding was enough to get baseline operations going again for the warming house, but there are no plans to fully reopen Project BEE at this time.
According to a release provided by Weppler, a press conference is scheduled for Monday where further details will be provided by Weppler and Project BEE Board President and Interim Director Tarina Crook.
