NDSU Extension schedules Stop the Bleed trainings

North Dakota State University Extension and the NDSU School of Nursing are partnering to offer free, Stop the Bleed training to rural residents.

Stop the Bleed is a nationally recognized, 90-minute certification program, providing participants with hands-on opportunities to recognize life-threatening bleeding and intervene effectively by properly using a tourniquet in the event of blood loss caused by an injury.

Area trainings are as follows.

– Wells County: Dec. 14, 1 p.m., Festival Hall, Fairgrounds, Fessenden.

– Renville County: Jan. 31, noon, Tolley Fire Hall, Tolley.

– Ward County: Jan. 31; 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Ward County Administration Building, Minot.

– McHenry County: Feb. 1, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Towner Ambulance and Fire Hall, Towner.

– Bottineau County: Feb. 1, 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., Cobblestone Inn, Nelson Room, Bottineau.

– Mercer County: Feb. 7, 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Civic Center, Beulah.

Stop the Bleed sessions are of no cost to participants. However, preregistration is required one week prior to each training session through the Extension Service. Sessions are limited to 10 to 12 participants. Personal Stop the Bleed kits will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
