Emily How, Ward County Horticulture Extension agent, will be hosting a Farmers Market Vendor Symposium on Jan. 26-27 at the North Central Research Extension Center in Minot.
Topics will include marketing, high tunnels, food safety and soil health from experts around the state. Registrants will check-in starting at 12:30 p.m., with the symposium beginning at 1 p.m. The first day will conclude with a social at Prairie Sky Breads. A panel of peers will be available to discuss how they use social media and how they market their business. Day two of the symposium begins at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 3 p.m. Lunch will be catered.
Presenters include Paige Brummund, Ward County Agricultural and Natural Resources Extension agent, and Esther McGinnis, NDSU associate professor and horticulturist. Brummund will speak on meat vending and the issues to be aware of when selling meat at a farmer's market, while McGinnis will discuss high tunnels in North Dakota and how to build them.
Registration is required and there is a fee of $50. Registration will open Jan. 3.
