Volunteers gear up for Wreaths Across America Day

Submitted Photo Wreaths decorate graves in Rosehill Memorial Park.

Dec. 16 is Wreaths Across America Day, a day when volunteers can come and place wreaths on the graves of veterans. Last year 2.1 million graves were decorated. In Minot alone, about 1,000 were decorated at Rosehill Memorial Park.

The decorating will begin this year at 11 a.m., following a military service.

“We owe everything to our veterans. They gave everything to the country so that we can be free. It’s just a little something to show appreciation during the holidays,” said Minot Location Coordinator Holly Rosel of Willow City.

Rosel has taken over from Richard Reuer, who stepped down this year after serving in the position for nine years.

“The committee works hard year round for this day,” said Rosel. “We’re about 170 wreaths short of our goal. So we need all the help we can get to reach it.”
