The Minot woman accused of poisoning her boyfriend with antifreeze canceled the bond hearing that had been scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Ina Thea Kenoyer, 47, Minot, has been named as the lead suspect in the death of her longtime boyfriend Steven Edward Riley Jr., 51, who died on Sept. 5 after falling ill two days prior.
Charged with Class AA murder, Kenoyer had asked for the hearing to contest the $1 million bond ordered by Judge Richard Hagar. A filing from Kenoyer's court-appointed attorney Tyler Morrow made late Thursday requested the cancellation of the hearing, informing the court that his client had decided not to proceed.
In court documents, investigators cited a variety of statements allegedly made by Kenoyer before and after Riley fell ill, saying her motive was her desire to claim a $30 million inheritance she believed Riley was to receive. Statements by Minot Police Capt. Dale Plessas and Police Chief John Klug indicate investigators do not believe the inheritance existed.
Kenoyer is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 7.
