The North Dakota Highway Patrol has announced the promotion of Sgt. Christopher Messer to lieutenant.
Effective today, Messer will serve as the Northwest Regional commander. The Northwest Region includes the cities of Watford City, Williston and Minot, from Divide County to Sheridan County.
Messer was first stationed in New Salem as a traffic enforcement officer, later transferring to Dickinson in 2007. Messer continued as a traffic enforcement trooper until his promotion to regional sergeant in 2012 and has served as Southwest Regional sergeant.
