The Reason, a family Christmas experience, is coming to Minot Saturday, Dec. 2.
Nationally-recognized evangelist and Pulse ministry founder Nick Hall will be joined by Christian singer-songwriter Micah Tyler in bringing The Reason tour to eight North Dakota cities from Nov. 29-Dec. 10.
The Minot event will be held at the North Dakota State Fair Center, starting at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m.
Pulse has reached out to hundreds of churches and ministries across the state to partner with them to invite people to the events and follow-up with those who respond to the message. It also wants to mobilize the local church for future events. The Reason is the launch of a two-year, statewide initiative that will include multiple events in the eight cities.
Tim Knutson, a local coordinator for the Minot event, said a number of churches are involved in organizing a prayer team and arranging for volunteers for Saturday's event.
"We're very excited," he said. "First of all, to see people set free and to come to a decision of following Christ, but then also, an activation of church members - giving people within our churches opportunity to exercise their faith and to pray with other people and then start to do that on a regular basis."
This family Christmas experience also will serve to inform attendees about Pulse North Dakota.
Hall, now of Minneapolis, started Pulse in 2006 as a student at North Dakota State University in Fargo. It has become a global ministry at the center of one of the world's largest millennial-led prayer and outreach efforts.
"It's an absolute honor and privilege to share the joy of Christmas with the incredible people of Minot and North Dakota as we celebrate the birth of Jesus this holiday season," Hall said in a prepared statement. "Our team is fervently praying that The Reason tour would greatly impact Minot, North Dakota, families and lay the groundwork for even more opportunities for people to reset their lives to Jesus in the years to come."
Hall will share a message of hope, as will Tyler, who is known for his popular Christian songs "Walking Free" and "Even Then."
"I'm truly blessed and honored to be a part of The Reason tour alongside Nick Hall and Pulse this Christmas season," Tyler said in a statement. "It's a time of joy, reflection and celebration through community and worship of the greatest gift ever given to us. I can't wait to share the message of hope through music with Minot and around North Dakota, reminding them of the true reason for this wonderful season."
The Pulse organization indicated the tour is prompted by a need for a message of hope, given events in the world today. However, Knutson said there's always a need for that message.
"There's always chaos in the world," he said. "On a more personal level, that can be happening in each and every one of our lives on a very small scale, regardless of what's going on in the world. So this is definitely something that is needed."
The tour kicks off in Jamestown and makes stops in Bismarck, Dickinson, Williston, Grand Forks, Devils Lake and Fargo. Tickets are $15, and people are encouraged to purchase them in advance. Children ages 6 and younger are admitted free.
