The charge against a Minot man who is the suspect in a shooting from Nov. 17 has been upgraded to murder after the alleged victim died.
Quantdre Octavious Mersier, 30, is sought as the suspect in the shooting that resulted in the death of Ansu Kamara, 29, Minot, but remains at large. An arrest warrant for Mersier for attempted murder was initially issued on Nov. 20, but with the filing of a new affidavit and warrant of arrest on Monday, the charge is now a single count of murder-intentional, knowing, or with extreme indifference, a Class AA felony.
North Central District Court records indicate the case is inactive pending Mersier's arrest. Court records indicate Mersier does not have an attorney, but an application for indigent defense services was filed on Tuesday. The authorities have cautioned the public against approaching Mersier but ask that any information regarding his whereabouts be shared with law enforcement.
