White Shield snow removal crew suits up

By Karen Lonefight 1 min read

WHITE SHIELD - Steve Garcia, a landscaper for Ree Lodge Management in White Shield, received specialized reflective winter gear on Sept. 30.

During the winter Garcia's work changes from sculpting trees and bushes to snow removal and aiding stranded vehicles.

Ree Lodge Management heavy equipment operators are tasked to remove snow from RLM properties, but also surrounding homes in the East Segment area on the Fort Berthold Reservation. Last winter while trying to chain up a vehicle in the ditch, Garcia was almost hit. So, this year Garcia requested reflective boots, pants, coats, gloves and Balaclava face masks for the entire crew.

Fred Fox, East Segment representative on the Three Affiliated Tribes business council, was responsible for the purchase of the gear.
