Veterans had the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C., during the Western North Dakota Honor Flight trip on Oct. 1-2. According to Dennis Burdolski, president of the nonprofit organization, the group included 10 Korean War veterans, five post-Korean War veterans and 102 Vietnam veterans. “Grand total was 182, which had traveling companions-family members, medical/PTSD counselor and other support staff,” said Burdolski. Sen. John Hoeven, R-ND, spoke at a banquet held for the group, and Congressman Kelly Armstrong, R-ND, arranged a tour of the Capitol and spoke to the group there. They also visited a number of memorials, and representatives of the group took part in the Changing of the Guard wreath ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
