Minot man arrested in drug bust near school
The Ward County Narcotics Task Force has arrested a Minot man on multiple felonies after a search of his residence allegedly revealed a stash of illegal drugs.
Bowe Bentley Getzlaff, 41, Minot, made his initial appearance in district court in Minot on Thursday before Judge Todd Cresap.
tGetzlaff was charged with three counts of possession with intent to distribute heroin, fentanyl and methamphetamine within 300 feet of a school; one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 300 feet of a school, a Class B felony; and one count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-second offense, a Class C felony.
According to charging documents filed with the court, the task force executed a search warrant on a southeast Minot location that was 250 feet from a nearby school. The information alleged that Getzlaff was selling narcotics out of the residence, leading to the Wednesday afternoon raid.
A male determined to be Getzlaff was apprehended and detained as he attempted to flee the residence, while another man was released and a third man kept for questioning after his identity could not be confirmed. The third man also was charged with possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
The task force’s search of the residence located baggies with various amounts of marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl along with a variety of paraphernalia. Getzlaff requested an attorney shortly after being arrested and read his Miranda rights and was not questioned further on the scene. Investigators reviewed Google Earth to determine the distance between the residence and the school, taking note of Getzlaff’s prior criminal history.
Getzlaff’s preliminary hearing before Cresap is scheduled for Oct. 19.
