Hearing set for Minot man charged with prohibited material

A Minot man who was arrested on Aug. 2 on 10 charges of possession of certain materials prohibited, a Class C felony, has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 7 before district court Judge Douglas Mattson.

Richard Gordon Pierce, 22, Minot, was arrested after a search warrant was executed on his residence on Aug. 2.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the search warrant was based on an investigation of a cybertip of possible sexual abuse material (CSAM), resulting in the seizure and search of several electronic devices found in the residence. Pierce allegedly confirmed to investigators that one of the devices was his and admitted that there would be CSAM on it. The device allegedly contained 10 images and videos of CSAM involving children as young as four.
