Trinity Health Foundation held its annual Golf for Life Men's Golf Tournament on Monday at the Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot.
A shotgun start kicked off the tournament which featured 33 teams. Golfers also participated in a contest for longest putt, drive and hole-in-one.
This year a new element was introduced to the tournament called the Chopper Drop - a 50-50 raffle where golf balls were purchased for a chance to win up to $5,000. During the awards ceremony, a helicopter flew over the golf course and poured the bucket of numbered balls out the window. The ball closest to the target won the cash prize totaling $1,960.
Proceeds from the event totaled $33,623, benefiting the Trinity Health Cancer Exercise Rehab program, which provides clinical exercise and conditioning for cancer patients and survivors to help them gain strength and resilience.
"The primary goals consist of helping individuals build muscle mass, muscle strength and endurance, cardio-respiratory capacity, flexibility and improve functional ability," said Wade McDowell, director of Trinity Health's Exercise Physiology Department.
