The North Dakota 4-H Engineering and Design Contest was held on Saturday, July 22, at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot.
County teams create a Rube Goldberg-like machine using household items to complete a task. The 2023 task was to break an egg. Participants work as a team and use their engineering skills to build the machine and also create a journal and story to outline their machine theme. The contest helps youth develop skills, including team building, leadership, STEM skills, journaling and storytelling.
The 2023 contest included teams from Foster, McKenzie and Burleigh counties.
