Man sentenced for corrupting, luring minors by computer

Charles Adams Underwood, 37, no address given, was sentenced on June 1 in district court on two counts of corruption of a minor and two counts of luring minors by computer, all Class C felonies.

Underwood had previously pleaded guilty to the four charges at the end of March as a part of a plea agreement that saw four additional felony charges dismissed, including a Class A felony charge of gross sexual imposition. He made his appearance before district court Judge Douglas Mattson following a presentence investigation.

Mattson sentenced Underwood to a concurrent sentence of five years in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, first serve two years with credit for 281 days already served. Upon release Underwood will be required to complete five years of supervised probation and notify the court of any change of address. Underwood will also be required to register as a sex offender and enroll in a sex offender treatment program. Mattson also ordered that Underwood have no contact with his victim for the duration of his incarceration and for the five years while on supervised probation.

All mandatory fees were applied on the first count, totaling $525 in court fines and fees. The court reserved jurisdiction to determine restitution by Sept. 29.
