Dakota Cruisers ready to cruise Broadway

Submitted Photo This 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 named “Calendar Girl” and owned by George and Eileen Masters of Minot will be among vehicles in the Dakota Cruisers first 2023 cruise on Broadway set for Wednesday evening.

Many remember “Calendar Girl,” singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka’s popular song. “Calendar Girl” also is the name of a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 owned by George and Eileen Masters of Minot that will be in the Dakota Cruisers’ first 2023 cruise on Broadway in Minot on Wednesday evening.

The group will be meeting between 6 and 6:30 p.m. at the South U-Haul lot. According to Masters, Dakota Cruisers president, precisely at 6:30 p.m.

“The call will go out: ‘Let’s Roll.’ We will cruise Broadway for about a half hour or so,” he said.

Masters said the Dakota Cruisers formed in 1993. He said there are 350 lifetime members and about 245 regular members, with a total of around 700 members or more.

He said the group has been cruising Broadway for about four years. He recalls that one Wednesday there were 313 vehicles in the cruise. The lowest number for a cruise was about 50 vehicles.

Masters said those interested are invited to join the cruise or watch as the vehicles go by on Broadway.
