Community car show coming back
Agency keeps celebration going

Voted Minot's Best Insurance Agent for a second year, Jessica Aardahl and her agency are planning to keep the celebration going. The State Farm agency is bringing back the free car show held last summer but with a new, larger venue and a focus on driving safety.
Last year, the agency celebrated Aardahl's 20th year as agent, along with winning Best Insurance Agent in The Minot Daily News' 2021 Best of the Best contest. The celebration included a community car show in Oak Park.
"We had about 200 cars and trucks of all years and makes come out and fill the park, along with about another 200 people to check it out," said Carressa Wiekamp, insurance representative with the Jessica Aardahl Agency. "People from all over the state, both customers and not, came out to enjoy the cars, food trucks and music."
The agency also had announced a $10,000 donation to Project BEE.
"It was a huge hit. Everyone loved it," Wiekamp said of the event. "So many people said they had so much fun they wanted another one. We couldn't resist."
This year's event will take place June 4 from 3-6 p.m. in the north parking lot behind the Minot State University Dome.
Aardahl won Best Insurance Agent again in The Minot Daily News' 2022 contest, so the June event will be another celebration. Planning for the event continues, but visitors can count on the Minot Police Department, Minot Fire Department, Canadian Pacific Railway Police and Vision Zero to be on hand with trucks, displays and activities to promote traffic safety. Food and treats will be available for purchase from food trucks, including Tim Dandy's BBQ and All Rolled Up.
Vehicle owners are welcome to arrive shortly before 3 p.m. to capture a spot - or drop by anytime during the show with a vehicle to add to the display. The first year brought classic, luxury and rare model cars as well as trucks and motorcycles. Any vehicle that someone wants to show off is eligible for inclusion, Wiekamp said.
The event is free for exhibitors and spectators. Just like last year, the agency will be giving away 100 goodie bags filled with donated items from around the community.
