Ward County 4-H members take part in state air rifle match

Ward County 4-H had nine individuals participate in the State 4-H Air Rifle match on April 1 in Devils Lake.
Age groups create the division and consist of Beginner (ages eight to 10), Junior (11 to 13), and Senior (14 to 18). The contestants use Sporter air rifles, shooting .177-caliber pellets at a velocity of 600 fps or less. Targets are AR 5/10 International 10-meter air rifle targets. Beginners shoot from a sitting position off a bench rest. Juniors and Seniors compete by shooting from three positions -- standing, kneeling and prone.
Senior Sporter Three-Position Division
-- 5th place - Alyssa Korgel, Minot, with a score of 470
-- 7th place - Landen Jansen, Minot, 427
-- 8th place - Layne Korgel, Minot, 397
-- 10th place - Zachary Korgel, Minot, 322
-- The team of Jansen, A. Korgel, L. Korgel, and Z. Korgel placed second in the Senior division with 1,294 points.
Junior Sporter Three-Position Division
-- 1st place - Olivia Jansen, Minot, 477
-- 2nd place - Kiley Whillock, Kenmare, 474
-- 6th place - Tyson Barden, Surrey, 287
-- The team of Barden, O. Jansen, and Whillock won the Junior division with 1,238 points.
Beginner Sporter Bench Division
-- 3rd place - Jase Schilla, Makoti, 553
-- 5th place - Ryker Vickery, Surrey, 540
