New campus a plus for hospital-linked providers

Submitted Photo The Medical Office Building at Trinity Health’s new campus features a central registration area where patients check in prior to proceeding to their doctor’s office.

Trinity Health physicians who now shuttle between the hospital and their clinic offices as they go about their practices will soon have new accommodations that are far more convenient.

Around 60 specialty physicians and hospital-linked providers currently located in other clinics will soon move to Trinity’s new Healthcare Campus and Medical District as part of a plan to redeploy resources as Trinity gets ready to open its new campus to patient care.

The new campus, located at 2305 37th Avenue SW, is comprised of two adjacent buildings – an acute care hospital and a Medical Office Building (MOB). The MOB is a multispecialty clinic designed to house physicians who need access to inpatient locations such as surgery and procedural suites.

“This is an exciting time for Trinity Health and the community,” said Renda Wilson, director of physician services. “We’re taking steps to remind patients of these moves, so they know where to go for their appointments.”

Patients who have appointments with providers in the new MOB will be reminded of the new location through multiple communication methods, including letters, postcards, advertising, social media, texts and emails. Not all providers are moving at the same time, so if people aren’t sure about the location of their next visit, they’re encouraged to call their doctor or practitioner.

Not every Trinity Health provider will move to the new MOB. Primary care providers, such as family medicine and pediatrics, will remain at their current clinic locations for the most part. Specialties that will be moving are: Audiology, Cardiology, Cardiovascular Surgery, Ear Nose & Throat Medicine, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Hand & Wrist Surgery, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, Podiatry (Foot & Ankle Clinic), Pulmonology, Rheumatology and Urology.

The 200,000-square-foot Medical Office Building sits to the north of the six-story hospital and is attached on all floors via connecting walkways. These connecting corridors will allow for easy access between the hospital and clinic and offer considerable convenience for patients and providers. In some cases, MOB offices will connect to their corresponding hospital department. For example, all Ob/Gyns will relocate to the third floor of the MOB, which is connected to women’s and children’s services on the third floor of the hospital.

The connecting corridors are also furnished with comfortable seating, which will create additional waiting areas for patients and their families.

A new feature of the MOB is centralized registration. Patients arriving for their appointments at the new clinic will make an initial stop at the Patient Registration area on the first floor, where they’ll be asked for their ID, insurance card and co-pay. Once the registration process is complete, they’ll be directed to make their way to their provider’s office.

Patients are encouraged to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment to allow ample time to traverse the campus and complete the registration process.
