New city hall soon to open

City of Minot offices will begin moving to the new city hall Monday.
However, the relocation won't be complete until May 1, when the official switch from the current city hall to the new one becomes official. The Minot City Council will hold its first meeting in the new city hall May 1.
According to the city's schedule, the Finance Department will be the first to move, along with a member of the City Attorney's Office. On Tuesday, Human Resources, City Manager and City Clerk offices are scheduled to move. The City Attorney's Office will complete the move Thursday.
The following week's moves include: April 24, offices of the City Assessor, National Disaster Resilience and Economic Development on April 24 and Utility Billing from April 26-28. An outdoor drop box for utility payments opens May 1 at the new location.
The drive-up drop box for municipal court payments will remain in front of the existing city hall, which houses the Minot Police Department.
The city reports Central Dispatch employees will remain in the current city hall until later this year.
The city purchased the former Wells Fargo Bank building for $2.6 million in 2020 and invested $15.7 million in remodeling the structure for a city hall. Construction started in early 2022.
Moving downtown centralizes city offices and allows the Police Department and Central Dispatch to expand.
The relocation of city hall and emergency dispatch from a potential flood zone was identified as part of the city's National Disaster Resilience Program, which is providing $8.22 million from a federal grant for the project.
