Man pleads guilty to identity theft

Michael Derrell Lawrence, 33, Minot, pleaded guilty on Tuesday in district court in Minot, to unauthorized use of personal identifying information to obtain credit of over $1,000, a Class B felony.

District Court Judge Richard L. Hagar sentenced Lawrence to 10 years in the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, first serve six days with credit for six days already served. Judge Hagar also sentenced Lawrence to three years of supervised probation. Lawrence was assessed $775 in court fines and fees and $1,009.41 in restitution. Lawrence also pleaded guilty to driving under suspension, a Class A misdemeanor. Judge Hagar sentenced him to six days in the Ward County Jail, with credit for six days already served. Lawrence was assessed a total of $325 in court fines and fees.
