PLAZA — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a truck driver killed in an accident 14 miles south of Plaza on Friday as Marco Arreola-Ibarra, 33, of Garrison.

Arreola-Ibarra’s 2007 Freightliner truck was struck by a 2013 Ford F350 driven by Kristine Wilkens, 36, of Ryder, that failed to yield at the intersection of 61st Avenue NW and McLean County Road 2. The 2007 Freightliner rolled into the northwest ditch. Arreola-Ibarra was dead at the scene. It is not known if he was wearing a seat belt. Two passengers in his vehicle, Alejandro Cebreros-Aguiluz, 27, and Jose Ibarra-Ramirez, 29, both of Garrison, were both wearing their seat belts. Both of the passengers managed to crawl out of the overturned Freightliner. Both sustained injuries in the accident.

Wilkens, who was wearing her seat belt, was not injured.

The accident is still under investigation.
