Employee charged with stealing from Bottineau Walmart

Brian Allan Bragdon, 48, Upham, is charged with Class B felony theft in district court in Bottineau.

According to a law enforcement affidavit, Bragdon was employed at the Bottineau Walmart and is accused of stealing $22,190 from the business between May 20 and Aug. 13. Bragdon allegedly is seen on security footage from June 5 opening the cash draw, counting a small amount, placing it out of view of the camera, and placing the rest of the cash in a security bag and sealing the bag. Discrepancies were noted in the amount of cash counted at the store and the amount counted by the bank after it had been transported there by an armored car, according to the affidavit.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Oct. 4 before Judge Anthony Benson in district court in Bottineau.
