BRANDON, Manitoba — Weiming Zhao, full- time artist and owner of painting en plein Air, has finished the “Gate to Peace” painting that he was working on during Saturday’s 90th Anniversary event of the International Peace Garden.

Zhao has painted in the Peace Garden a few times over the years. Each painting excursion brings back some special memories. One trip to the Peace Garden in 2011 is especially memorable. Zhao and his wife went to the Peace Garden to mark their 27th wedding anniversary on Aug. 27, only to witness an ongoing wedding ceremony of an American couple there.

“I painted the ceremony on my canvas so fittingly to mark the special occasion, called ‘a wedding ceremony,’ he said.
