Five Hometown Sound artists to perform at Grandstand July 27

The five finalists in the North Dakota State Fair’s first Hometown Sound event will be vying for a $2,000 prize when they perform on stage at the Grandstand on Wednesday, July 27.
The Hometown Sound event, North Dakota’s version of “American Idol,” features the finalists as the opening act at the Grandstand at 8 p.m. Will Banister’s performance will follow.
The five selected finalists, according to State Fair officials are:
— John Kringstad, Bismarck.
— Young in a Million, Minot – Kody Christopher and Alex Christopher.

Each of the finalists will perform two songs and at the end of the performances the winner of the $2,000 will be announced.
The five finalists were selected from about 50 entries, according to JaCee Aaseth, State Fair marketing director.

Each entry auditioned by May 31 via YouTube, emailing a hard copy application or YouTube video link to the State Fair. The five finalists were announced in June.
