City seeks proposals for animal pound

The Minot Police Department is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide animal pound services.

The Minot City Council voted last October to negotiate a one-year contract with Minot Veterinary Clinic after discovering the clinic had been providing pound services without a contract since the 1990s. The council decided that once a contract was in place, the city would call for proposals for pound operation to investigate the animal services available in the community and determine the level of services the city should include at the pound.

Proposals are requested by July 19. The request for proposals does not commit the city to award a contract or contracts.

More than 585 animals passed through Minot’s city pound in 2020.
