Percy Jackson Escape Room to be at Minot Public Library

The Minot Public Library has activities planned this summer from a 3-D printer to scavenger hunts in the library to the Percy Jackson Escape Room which goes Monday-Thursday. The escape room will be groups of six and run from 3-8:15 p.m. nightly.
Pam Carswell, Jess Bingham and some helpful teen assistants have handcrafted clues and puzzles including a wine bottle cipher decoder. Participants will meet and be guided via intercom in a quiet-themed room on the second floor.
The Percy Jackson series is 15 books and while it is not required to have read them, it would help to understand the narrative of the game. Groups will solve the mystery and be back in the real world in 30 minutes. Percy Jackson’s character learns he is part human and part demigod and attends Camp Half Blood, where the adventures ensue with teens from similar backgrounds.
The escape room as well as other activities and resources are open to all ages. The summer theme at the library is an “Ocean of Possibilities” which fits right in with the Percy Jackson theme because Percy is the son of Poseidon, the sea god. There are several crafts and classes to create and play games. The library has a maker’s space to encourage creativity in tech and several games, a green screen and apps that update weekly.
Adventure packs are a new addition to the makers space this summer. Backpacks have supplies included for different activities like a birdwatching kit, a star gazing kit, wood whittling kit, rock collecting and hiking kits.
“Percy Jackson escape room is going to be amazing and promotes literacy skills, we have been working at this for months and we are ready!” said Carswell.
