New commander named for U.S. Strategic Command
Air Force Gen. Anthony Cotton has been nominated by President Biden to the grade of general, with assignment as commander of U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin III announced the nomination on Wednesday.
Cotton is currently serving as commander of Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana.
Minot AFB’s 5th Bomb Wing and 91st Missile Wing are units of Air Force Global Strike Command, and AF Global Strike Command is a service component of U.S. Strategic Command.
