Skylere Catlin charged with forcible GSI

Skylere Ray Catlin, 17, Minot, has been charged in district court in Minot as an adult with forcible rape of a girl on May 14, 2021, a charge of Class AA felony gross sexual imposition.

At the time, he would have been 16. He will not turn 18 until this August.

According to statements made at his initial court appearance on Tuesday, Catlin was originally charged in juvenile court but the case has now been transferred to district court. He had been on home confinement with an ankle monitor with juvenile court supervision. On Tuesday morning, Judge Richard Hagar set an unsecured bond of $25,000, meaning Catlin did not have to put up any money for bond but will owe the money if he does not show up for court. Hagar also ordered Catlin to be under the supervision of pre-trial services, to wear an ankle monitor that will monitor his comings and goings, and to have no contact with the alleged victim.

Ward County Assistant State’s Attorney Tiffany Sorgen told the judge that Catlin has been charged in juvenile court with other matters and the court has been concerned about a lack of adult supervision for Catlin at home. However, his defense attorney, Kyle Craig, said Catlin has not violated any bond conditions during the nine months he had been under juvenile court supervision.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for April 21.

Starting at $3.75/week.
