Minot Public Library offers environmental discussion series
The Minot Public Library and the Environmentally Minded People of Minot, a Minot community group, are partnering to offer a free discussion program on Environmental Justice today at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the library.
Environmental Justice 101 will discuss how Environmental Justice (EJ) impacts both rural and urban Americans.
“We are thrilled to have representatives from the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at Wednesday’s event,” said Tim Baumann a founding member of the Environmentally Minded People of Minot. Baumann said the opportunity to share information with everyone is important because education is a powerful tool. “The more we learn and understand as a community, the more we are able to create positive outcomes now and in the future.”
Library Director Janet Anderson said that the Minot Public Library is fortunate to have experts willing to share their knowledge.
“Our speakers will help people learn more about the history of Environmental Justice as well as key concepts related to EJ,” she explained. “It will be interesting to hear how these agencies integrate EJ into their work to protect human health and the environment and, hopefully, learn how we, as citizens, can help.”
Environmental Justice 101 is open to all ages. For more information call 852-1045.
