Damien Breding, Williston, sentenced on federal child pornography charges
Damien David Breding, 47, Williston, was sentenced last month in U.S. District Court in Bismarck to 10 years in federal prison followed by 10 years of supervised probation on a federal charge of possession of images depicting the sexual exploitation of children. One other charge against him was dismissed. He used two cell phones in the commission of the crime in 2019, according to court documents.
Breding had already been listed as a high-risk sex offender on the state’s sex offender registry and had a 2012 federal court conviction for possession of child pornography. He is also a convicted murderer, having been previously convicted of setting fire to a house in Powers Lake in 1991 and killing twin 6-year-old girls for whom he had been babysitting. He was 16 at the time of the murder. He was tried as an adult and sentenced to 30 years in prison but was released early. He was found to have downloaded the child porn in 2002 while he was working at the prison’s manufacturing plant, according to a past Associated Press story.
