Returning from the war, he and his late wife, Olive, lived on her family farm near Ryder, where they farmed with relatives before moving to Garrison, where he did construction work. The Sinns raised a son and a daughter, retired Lt. Gen. Jerry Sinn and Lois Sinn Lindquist. John Sinn went to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1957. He retired in 1989.
